Italian fans at the World Trophy 2024 in Milan.
After the World Trophy was held in Milan last year, the World Championships in the team and individual competitions will be held in Lombardy this autumn.

Since founding in 1985 as a result of a pioneering partnership between STIHL USA and ESPN, the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series has grown exponentially from an annual US-based competition to the pinnacle global series in competitive woodchopping and logger sports, active in over 20 countries across Asia, Europe, North America, Australia, and Oceania.
This incredible milestone and the long-standing history of competition that has come before it truly highlights STIHL’s commitment to progressing elite logger sports around the globe. In line with this, and with the 2025 season now on the horizon, this year looks set to be as axe-hilirating as ever.

Speaking on reaching this exciting milestone, Raimondo Napoleone, STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Global Projects Manager, says:
“For 40 years, STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® has pushed the boundaries of extreme sports, showcasing the skill, strength, and passion of the world’s top logger athletes. As we enjoy reaching this incredible milestone, we want to celebrate our rich history while looking ahead to an even more exciting future for the sport. The next chapter of STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® promises to be bigger, bolder, and more thrilling than ever.”

Dutch courage expected in this year’s European Trophy
The start of the international season this year will see Europe’s top athletes go head-to-head for the coveted European Trophy on the 17th of August in Lage Vuursche in the heart of the Netherlands close to Amsterdam. This highly anticipated contest will determine qualification spots for the 2026 World Trophy, ensuring a hugely thrilling day of action takes place on Dutch soil.

International season to culminate with World Championships in Italy
The Team and Individual World Championships, the climax of the TIMBERSPORTS® season, will be held for the first time ever in Italy on 24-25 October. The host city of Milan, widely recognised for its devoted sports fans, will see both events held at the famed Allianz Cloud arena.
The Team World Championship will kick off a thrilling weekend on Friday 24th October, before the solo athletes take centre stage in the Individual World Championship on Saturday 25th. Both competitions will bring together the greatest international athletes and nations to battle it out for world domination in The Original Extreme Sport.

Pro, Women and Rookie divisions branching out around the globe
First national competitions have already been taking place, kicking off back in March with the New Zealand Championships and continuing through to October with national qualifiers and championships in the Pro, Women’s and Rookie divisions around the globe. During the Pro Championships of 2025 12 precious qualification spots for the Individual World Championship in Milan will be on the line.

Highlight national competitions will be broadcast and live streamed internationally on the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® social media channels, ensuring fans around the world have regular access to high-class extreme sports content.
